Dr. John Nieters, L.Ac. DAOM has studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Internal Martial Arts for over 30 years. John developed a name for himself as an expert in treating chronic and degenerative or “knotty” diseases, and he credits his success with the work of Li Dong Yuan, author of the Pi Wei Lun. Although he operates a successful clinical practice in Alameda, CA, he makes time for teaching and community outreach. He hosts two radio shows on Traditional Chinese Medicine, The Balancing Point and The Medicine Men, he has taught at UC Berkeley’s Integrative Medicine Program, Five Branches University, the Academy of Chinese Culture and Heath Sciences, and is scheduled to teach for the first time this year at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver.

Dr. Nieters has pursued extensive post-graduate training. John was with the first group of American acupuncturists to be certified in Integrated Diabetes Prevention and Treatment at the Xin Hua Hospital, China. He is also certified by the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM), certified by the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics (NBAO), and certified in Gynecology and Internal Medicine at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, in China.

As part of his commitment to education he has worked individually with many acupuncturists to deepen their understanding in the clinical applications of Chinese Medical theory, advanced herbal applications and herb-drug interactions, and how to integrate with Western medicine.

John’s lectures are always popular as he combines humor and situational awareness while communicating the relevance of Li Dong Yuan’s work in the modern clinic.
