TCM Iridology Diagnosis and Treatment Case Study:
The Case of One Blind Eye
by Robert Wu, O.M.D., Ph.D., L.Ac.
During one of my TCM Iridology Diagnosis and Treatment seminars this year, I came across an interesting case that I would like to share with everyone. In my seminars, I usually lecture first and then provide some hands-on diagnoses for interested audience members. Seeing is believing; in that way, the audience will be able to judge whether the method I use confirms their own health conditions.
During one of my seminars, a middle-aged woman approached me and asked me if I would give an Iridology diagnosis for her mother. She told me that her mother was blind in one of her eyes, and asked me if I would stay after the seminar to see her. Due to the age of the mother, and also because it was an intriguing case,
I decided to comply with her request.
The patient is an 85-year-old Hispanic woman who complained of blindness in her left eye. She had no history of trauma, brain problems, tumor, or eye disease. I used my Iridology Diagnosis Computer Software to capture both her right and left irises. Her right iris revealed that she had just had cataract surgery. There were also a few blue and black spots on her iris, indicating damage caused by long-term use of western medication.
The patients left iris was not constricted as expected; however, it was very clear that there were definite pathological changes in her stomach and intestinal areas. Interestingly, this blind persons major issues were not of the eyes, but of the stomach and intestine.
Upon further inquiry, the patient described the vision in her left eye to be in the form of a vertical black line, with very little perception of light. I had at that point formulated a working diagnosis in the back of my mind. I then proceeded to palpate her left carotid artery and left vertebral artery area, which reaffirmed my suspicions.
Discussion
For several reasons, this case was very interesting to me. Firstly, we have an elderly person with one supposedly blind eye without any obvious pathology. Secondly, using the TCM Iridology Diagnosis method and computer software, combined with my clinical experience, I had deducted that the cause of her
so-called blindness was a result of malnutrition contributing to arteriosclerosis of her arteries. Due to the fact that there were inadequate blood supply and nutrients going to her left eye, her vision was severely compromised.
Following my diagnosis, I started to treat her neck with my Dao Qi (Guiding the Energy) needling method along the Gallbladder, Stomach, and Large Intestine points around her neck and face. I also prescribed her my own herbal formula blend. At the patients second treatment, she described a sensation of energy rushing up to her head and into her left eye. After the treatment, I checked the peripheral vision of the patient. She was able to see out of the corner of her left eye, and she was also able to see light. With following visits, the patient was gradually able to see out of her left eye.
