With over 20 years of experience in the Taiwanese TCM field, seeing 70-100 patients per day, Dr. Heng-Wei Chang has created his “Organ Balance Acupuncture Method,” which combines the essence of pulse diagnosis with Nei Nan Jing, 5 Shu point theory, Yuan Lu Qie, Yu Mu, 5 Zang, and other point prescription methods for far more effective clinical results.

Pain is something that everyone will experience. The treatment of pain is a problem that every practitioner must face. Acupuncture is the most effective tool for the treatment of pain syndromes.

But did you know that acupuncture point selection for pain syndromes can be sorted into three different types?

Type I: Local points - ashi points, adjacent points
Type II: Channel points - points near the channel, or points far from the channel (on the opposite limb)
Type III: Internal medicine points - Is the pain from organ imbalance or deficiency? Or pain from stagnation? The Liver dominates the sinews, the Kidneys the bones, the Spleen the muscles, but which is the key?

Wind, cold, damp, heat Bi - how to classify the disease? Qi, blood, or fluid - which has the blockage?

Through Wang, Wen, Wen, Qie (Observation, Olfaction, Inquiry, and Auscultation), particularly auscultation of the pulse, we can judge the patient's internal issues, then use effective acupuncture points to immediately and more effectively treat pain syndromes.

At what level of proficiency would you rate your current practice?

Dr. Chang’s in-depth explanation of his "Local Distal Acupuncture Therapy for Pain" and “Organ Balance Acupuncture Method” will teach you how to choose local and distal acupoints in collaboration with qi movement therapy. This class will also guide you to use pulse diagnosis to select points for internal medicine treatments, as well as effective herbal prescriptions to achieve the best clinical results.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Understand the various categories of pain according to TCM differential diagnosis
  • Understand the definition, concepts of distal, local and movement acupuncture
  • Strategies for selecting best distal and local acupuncture points according to various locations of pain and other considerations
