Prolo-acupuncture goes directly to injured tendons, ligaments, and joints to functionally “re-link” muscle-to-bone and bone-to-bone connections.

With a name derived from Prolotherapy, where an injection directly into the injured joint can stimulate the body’s self-repairing mechanism to be activated, Prolo-acupuncture utilizes a similar theory and approach, but without the injection.

Prolo-acupuncture can play an important role in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic injuries and pain syndromes, particularly where recurrent muscle strains and tendonitis are secondary to underlying joint dysfunction and hypermobility.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

Know and describe the functional/clinical anatomy, patho-anatomy of the main injuries and pain of the major joints of the body, including observation, inspection, palpation and special orthopedic tests for joint range-of-motion, tracking and stability

Identify red flags for serious/urgent joint injuries and pain that warrant referral to physician care

Be able to treat common joint injuries pain with acupuncture, including neuro-anatomical acupuncture
