I have been seen this patient since 10/13/11,54 y/o male B/P: 128/76 P: 72 R: 18 WT: 160# presented with high cholesterol levels (Total cholesterol 280mg/dl, HDL53mg/dl,LDL:195mg/dl Triglycerides:162gm/dl) .c/o dull pain around ribs 4/10 on and off for > 6 mos.Face:redness on cheek few in chin, Appetite:good last meal 10pm sometimes 11 pm.Bowel Movement 1-2 every day firm, emotion: + stress at work, Sleep: wake up 1-2 times at night to used restroom, cold limbs.Tongue: Red t/b No t/c C/C wet Pulse: L:Floating wiry weak R:Floating Forceful weak.Patient refused to have drug therapy.Had surgery on lower back > 10 yrs ago. Family history of heart disease.TCM diagnoses were Damp heat accumulation and Kidney yang deficiency I treated him twice a week with acupuncture and Cholisma tea Three times a day. recommended to change life style more exercise,eating healthy, supplements: Vitamin C 2000mg , Omega 3,Niacin 1000mg,and multi-vitamin. Last meal should be 4 hours before bed. (Lot education) Last patient's states feeling more energetic, sleeping better once an a while still using restroom, his last meal is at 7 pm the latest. Blood work was on 11/22/11 Total cholesterol 196 mg/dl, HDL 50mg/dl LDL: 123mg/dl and triglycerides 113 mg/dl.He still taking cholisma tea for maintenance and acupuncture once a wk. Noemi E Ugarte LAc
