An Intro to Recognition & Prevention of Herb-Drug Interactions - John Chen

The 1 hour class with Dr. John Chen was a great sneak peek on what to expect this weekend and let me tell you... I can't wait!

I know it was only an hour but there were many jewels that I took home with me. Being able to work with patients who are taking prescription drugs is really important. As a TCM practitioner, you really need to know your western meds so that the patients feel comfortable and know that you know what you're talking about. Patient safety is very important so a big take home note is to take western and Chinese medicine at least 2-4 hours apart from each other. And not to take herbs with tea as it can counteract with the herbs.

Dr. Chen also talked about the optimal time to take herbs which is 7-9am and 7-9pm (if herbs are comsumed 2 times daily),

The 1 hour class focused on absorption in pharmacokinetic interactions and if you'd like to tune in and hear what Dr. Chen has to say...
