COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Chronic illness often persists because the true root causes remain unrecognized or untreated. This course explores how practitioners can move beyond symptomatic care by identifying and addressing the underlying drivers of complex conditions. Through the lens of Chinese Medicine’s root-branch analysis and pattern differentiation, combined with Functional Medicine’s pathophysiology and laboratory insights, participants will learn a comprehensive framework for managing difficult cases.

Focusing on commonly overlooked conditions, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), parasite infections, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and heavy metal toxicity, this course reveals how these conditions are often interlinked, sharing overlapping etiologies and clinical presentations. Participants will gain practical tools to evaluate and treat these conditions with acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, lifestyle strategies, and when appropriate, cross-disciplinary referrals.

This course bridges Eastern and Western medical approaches: This Part I course emphasizes Chinese Medicine foundations and clinical applications, while the The Missing Link in Chronic Illness: Western & Functional Medicine for SIBO, POTS Parasites & Toxicity, Part II*, highlights biomedical assessment, functional medicine treatment options, and ethical considerations. Practitioners will leave with an integrated clinical map to better serve patients with chronic illnesses that often resist conventional treatment.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Define the clinical presentations and root causes of SIBO, parasite infections, POTS, and heavy metal toxicity.
  • Differentiate Chinese Medicine patterns associated with these chronic conditions through root-branch analysis.
  • Apply acupuncture and herbal medicine strategies to support patients with SIBO, POTS, and parasitic infections.
  • Integrate functional medicine insights and referral networks to enhance outcomes in complex chronic illness management.
