COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Addressing chronic illness effectively requires looking deeper than the symptoms to uncover root causes. While Chinese Medicine excels in root-branch analysis and pattern differentiation, its impact is greatly enhanced when paired with Western biomedical evaluation and Functional Medicine strategies.

This course focuses on four commonly overlooked yet interrelated contributors to chronic illness: Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), parasite infections, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and heavy metal toxicity. These conditions are frequently misdiagnosed in conventional settings, leaving patients without relief. Participants will learn how to apply a structured biomedical approach, incorporating laboratory testing, pathophysiology, and integrative treatment planning, to identify, evaluate, and treat these conditions.

Through detailed discussions, functional medicine strategies, and exploration of ethical considerations, practitioners will gain practical tools to support patients using supplements, diet, lifestyle modification, and pharmacologic interventions. This course equips clinicians with a patient-centered, integrative framework to manage chronic illnesses that often resist conventional care.

This Day 2 course, The Missing Link in Chronic Illness, Part 2: Western & Functional Medicine for SIBO, POTS Parasites & Toxicity”, highlights biomedical assessment, functional medicine treatment options, and ethical considerations. The Day 1 course, The Missing Link in Chronic Illness, Part 1: TCM & Functional Medicine for SIBO, POTS Parasites & Toxicity*, emphasizes Chinese Medicine foundations and clinical applications. Practitioners will leave with an integrated clinical map to better serve patients with chronic illnesses that often resist conventional treatment.

  • Part 1*: The Missing Link in Chronic Illness, Part 1: TCM & Functional Medicine for SIBO, POTS Parasites & Toxicity
    • Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

      • Discuss the biomedical presentations and underlying mechanisms of SIBO, parasite infections, POTS, and heavy metal toxicity.
      • Apply a structured approach to laboratory diagnosis and interpretation for these conditions.
      • Integrate Functional Medicine strategies, including supplements, diet, lifestyle modifications, and pharmacologic options, into clinical practice.
      • Evaluate the psychological and ethical implications of managing chronic illness within a patient-centered framework.
