This is a continuation of Part I, which is not required but highly recommended for an optimal learning experience. Click here to see Part I course description.

In Part II of this course, Peter Kington, an experienced Chinese medicine practitioner in Brisbane, Australia with a special interest in Chinese reproductive medicine and fertility, goes over all types of menstrual cycle disorders due to the timing (early, late, and irregular), volume (amenorrhea, scanty, heavy, flooding and trickling), and length (short, long, on and off, spotting). Dysmenorrhea and pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) will also be covered.

The following content will be covered in Part II of this course:
1. Twelve main and several secondary herbal formulas for the treatment of menstrual disorders (suitable for acupuncturists and herbalists who use pills or herbalists)
2. Ways of identify potential ‘medical’ issues and when to refer involving each of the following menstrual disorders:

  • Disorders of the timing of menstruation: early, late and irregular periods
  • Disorders of the volume of menstruation: scant, heavy, flooding and trickling
  • Disorders of the length of the menstrual bleed: short, long and bleeds which start and stop
  • Abnormal vaginal discharge (non morbid)
  • Dysmenorrhoea
  • PMS

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Understand disorders of the timing of menstrual bleed
  • Understand disorders of the volume of menstrual bleed
  • Understand disorders of the length of menstrual bleed
