Blood pressure and heart rate can be imperative variables to help differentiate between the 8 principles – excess, deficiency, heat, or cold. They are especially important and useful to diagnosis the true condition of the patient when the subject complaints are contradicting the objective findings. In this video recording, Wei-Yen Chang will begin by giving an introduction on the importance of taking a patient’s blood pressure and heart rate and then he will go over the four different types a patient can fall under. When describing each type in detail, Wei-Yen Chang will share with us the herbal treatment he would use and comment on his clinical experience when working with patients who fall under one of the four different types.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Be able to understand the importance and usefulness of taking the blood pressure and heart rate of a patient.
  • Learn the 8 Principle differentiation for blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Understand the different criteria for the four different types.
  • Be able to recognize the treatment principle and herbal treatment for each type.
