Detecting Hormone Levels through
Dr. Jimmy Chang’s New Shenmen (HT 7) Pulse Diagnosis

The ulnar pulse at the Shenmen (HT 7) area provides insights into an individual's hormonal balance. Specifically, the pulse on the right side corresponds to testosterone levels, while the pulse on the left side corresponds to estrogen levels. In a typical individual, both pulses should be present and exhibit relatively balanced strength, with males tending to have a slightly stronger pulse on the right and females a slightly stronger pulse on the left.
If the right-side pulse is significantly stronger than the left, it suggests elevated testosterone levels relative to estrogen. Conversely, if the left-side pulse is stronger than the right, it indicates higher estrogen levels compared to testosterone.
What does this mean on a man?
LEFT < RIGHT
If the right side Shenmen (HT 7) pulse is stronger than the left, this man has hormone imbalance with a high level of testosterone usually leading to the primary symptom of heat and excessive libido. Other symptoms may include acne, excessive fire, irritability, headaches, excessive hair, and other heat signs.

LEFT > RIGHT
When the pulse at Shenmen (HT 7) on the left side is stronger than the right, it indicates a hormonal imbalance, with estrogen levels surpassing testosterone levels in the individual. Drawing from Dr. Chang's wealth of experience, he has observed that in younger men with this imbalance, they often display milder temperaments and exhibit more characteristics typically associated with females. Conversely, in older gentlemen with a similar hormonal profile, they are more likely to experience prostate-related issues.

When the pulse at Shenmen (HT 7) on the right side exhibits greater strength compared to the left, it signals a hormonal imbalance in women characterized by elevated levels of testosterone. This hormonal imbalance often manifests with primary symptoms such as irritability, anger, excessive hair growth, acne, obesity, or symptoms akin to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Some individuals may perceive these women as assertive, controlling, or insistent on having things their way.
