An Introduction to Immunology and White Blood Cells

The immune system is a system of biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against disease. In this introductory course with Dr. Matt Van Benschoten, an experienced practitioner with over 30 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, discusses various topics of immunology including, but not limited to: platelets/thrombocytes, white blood cells, T cell differential counts, electrolytes, glucose, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, uric acid, and liver enzymes.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

• Have a deeper understanding of the structure and function of the immune system.
• Understand in depth the function of platelets, thrombocytes, white blood cells, T cell differential counts, electrolytes, kidney enzymes, and liver enzymes.
• Understand the role of the immune system in clearance of pathogens, allergy, autoimmune disorders, and malignancy.
