COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Liver plays a central role in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine, influencing physical health, emotional balance, digestion, and pain regulation. *The Liver in TCM and Western Medicine: A Pragmatic Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment* offers a unique, balanced perspective, with half of the course focused on Western medical understanding of liver physiology, pathology, and treatment strategies, and the other half dedicated to TCM theory, diagnostics, and therapeutic methods.
Taught by Dr. Sheng, who recently retired from private clinical practice but continues his work in the hospital, this course represents the passing down of decades of wisdom and experience. With over 40 years of practice in both TCM and Western medicine, Dr. Sheng will share how many difficult and challenging cases can be traced back to Liver disharmony and demonstrate pragmatic approaches for addressing them. Participants will explore how to diagnose and treat liver-related disorders, from emotional and anxiety conditions to digestive and pain syndromes, using both herbal and acupuncture methods alongside modern Western medical care. This integrated approach equips practitioners with the knowledge and tools to help patients achieve deeper, more lasting healing.
Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:
Apply knowledge of Liver functions from both TCM and Western medicine to assess and treat common clinical conditions.
Diagnose Liver-related disorders using TCM differentiation methods and modern biomedical approaches.
Apply acupuncture points, herbal treatments, and Western therapies to address common Liver disorders.
Integrate insights from TCM and Western medicine to treat conditions such as anxiety, digestive dysfunction, and pain.
