COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides an in-depth exploration of herbal strategies for the treatment of fibroids, endometriosis, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Using the classical lens of zheng jia - concretions and conglomerations - participants will examine how patterns of blood stasis, phlegm accumulation, and endocrine disharmonies contribute to these complex gynecological conditions. The course emphasizes clinical application with numerous classical and modern herbal formulas, including essential modification strategies to tailor treatment to each patient.

Highlights include understanding the physiological prerequisites for successfully treating blood stasis, exploring the concepts of “malign blood” and “blood-phlegm” in endometriosis, and addressing endocrine imbalances in PCOS. Participants will gain practical skills in differentiating key Chinese medicine patterns, analyzing effective herbal formulas, and integrating these strategies into real-world clinical practice to optimize patient outcomes.

This course is taught by Dr. Evan Rabinowitz, founder and director of the Yao Shan Center for Chinese Medicine in Washington, D.C., where he has maintained a thriving clinical practice for over 25 years. Dr. Rabinowitz is also a faculty member at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts, a lecturer in the Integrative Medicine Program at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and a globally recognized educator in Chinese herbal medicine.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Understand the pathophysiology of uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and PCOS through the lens of Chinese medicine, including zheng jia, blood stasis, and phlegm-damp accumulation.
  • Differentiate key Chinese medicine patterns underlying these gynecological disorders.
  • Identify and analyze classical and modern herbal formulas for the treatment of fibroids, endometriosis, and PCOS, including strategies for modification.
  • Understand endocrine disharmonies and reproductive system imbalances and apply integrative herbal strategies safely and effectively in clinical practice.
