COURSE DESCRIPTION:
True healing extends beyond the treatment room. In Chinese Medicine, health is cultivated daily through the rhythms of food, sleep, breath, and movement, all harmonized with the cycles of nature. This course explores how practitioners can integrate lifestyle guidance into patient care, helping patients not only recover from illness but also sustain long-term wellness.
Topics include nutrition and food therapy, the role of sleep and dreaming, breathing practices, and movement as medicine (不通則痛: “where there is no flow, there is pain”). Participants will also examine how lifestyle recommendations can be tailored to season, age, gender, environment, and geography. In addition, the course reflects on the physician’s role as both healer and guide, offering a framework for cultivating trust and building lifelong patient relationships.
Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:
- Discuss the principles of food, sleep, movement, and breath as foundations of health in Chinese Medicine.
- Relate lifestyle rhythms to seasonal, environmental, and constitutional factors in patient care.
- Explore the physician’s role in guiding patients toward sustainable health practices.
- Incorporate lifestyle education into clinical practice to support long-term wellness and strengthen patient relationships.
