COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This second day of training builds on the foundations from Part 1 and continues the exploration of the biochemical and nutritional factors that drive mood imbalances, food cravings, and compulsive behaviors, including disordered eating. Day 2 will cover assessment of nutritional deficiencies related to mood/craving/compulsive issues. We will learn how to use questionnaires and interview to assess various deficiencies, how to identify the order of treatment, which supplements correspond to which deficiencies and review potential supplement-drug interactions.
Participants will also learn how to evaluate potential supplement–drug interactions, recognize risks when working with patients with disordered eating, and implement safe and effective nutrition programs. This course will include multiple real-world case studies to strengthen clinical decision-making. Practitioners who wish to volunteer themselves or a patient for case review are invited to contact eLotus.
Taught by Dr. Peter Shark, an experienced practitioner with over fifteen years of clinical expertise, this course integrates Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition, functional medicine, and supplement strategies into a clear, practical framework for supporting patients struggling with mood challenges, cravings, and compulsive behavioral patterns.
Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:
- Strengthen patient compliance by effectively guiding dietary changes and individualized treatment plans.
- Learn how to safely support mood, cravings, and recovery from compulsive behaviors while preventing supplement–drug interactions and avoiding interference with conventional care.
- Recognize the clinical risks involved in treating patients with disordered eating and apply strategies to ensure safe, responsible practice.
- Identify when psychological or medical referrals are necessary and integrate appropriate collaboration into patient care.
- Understand the biochemical mechanisms that drive cravings, mood dysregulation, and compulsive behavioral patterns.
