Thank you for this thread. This is very informative. I'm suffering from a severe headache and had already planned to get a chiropractic treatment from a chiropractic clinic in Toronto (AESM). The detailed information about this trigger points had given me an idea about the treatment methods. While browsing, I read that massage therapy is effective for a headache. Is it true? Which is best Massage therapy or Acupuncture?

Also, if you say that the hand is the mirror image of the head then needle accordingly.....I LOVE SJ3 and SJ4 combined with GB40,41, and 42 for a temporal HA. And if that doesn't knock it out right away than keep going around the hand knuckle until it does. throw in SI3... keep going til it's gone. And you don't have to go deep. they are zingy points and very strongly innervated so just get the chi.

I always get temporal headaches (GB region) and I've found useful is needling around Liver 3. I look for the ashi points. I took this straight from Dr. Tan's Balance Method, system 3. Works like a charm!

According to Dr. Tan's Acupuncture 1,2,3 ..

First, determine which meridian is affected by the pain.

Frontal (ST, LI, GB, SJ, SI, BL, DU)
Occiptal (BL, GB, DU)
Temporal (GB, SI, SJ in rare cases)
Vertex (BL, DU)
Behind the Eyes (GB, ST)
Everywhere (All Yang meridians)

Next determine the treating meridian using the 5 Systems. There are actually many scenarios of a headache. If you have a question about a specific type, I will be happy to help you.

Pressure points to relive headache are: The inside of your eyebrows, just above the bridge of your nose. The temples - These areas seem to hold a lot of the muscle stress from the rest of the scalp. The base of the skull. Between the thumb and index finger. Start between your big toe and second toe. On the top of your foot come back about one inch and press down.
