This course will explore TCM approaches to assessing and treating patients affected by concussion or brain injury. Neurobiology, neurological testing, and symptoms correlating to affected brain regions will be covered to create a more informed treatment approach and plan. Patient-practitioner relations specific to brain injury and subpopulations will also be discussed. Key pathogenic factors, etiologies, and patterns frequently involved in brain injury and concussion will be shared, as well as point protocols and herbal approaches to treatment.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Be informed and confident in being able to treat patients affected by concussion or brain injury
  • Learn to assess and form a proper treatment plan for patients affected by concussion or brain injury
  • Understand key pathogenic factors, etiologies, and patterns involved in concussion and brain injury from both a TCM and neurobiological perspective
  • Be aware of patient-practitioner relationship that apply when treating individuals affected by concussion and brain injury
  • Gain knowledge of acupuncture point and Chinese herbal effects on the brain and how they may facilitate the healing process
