Constipation occurs when bowel movements become difficult or infrequent. This is a common gastrointestinal problem. The normal frequency of bowel movements vary widely. In general, constipation is experienced if bowel movements occur less that three times a week and if the stools are hard and dry.

In this video recording, Dr. Jimmy Wei-Yen Chang will first share an introduction of what constipation is in terms of Western Medicine and the common symptoms associated with this condition. Dr. Chang will then discuss the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pattern differentiation of constipation and share the herbal treatment for each differentiation.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Be able to identify symptoms for constipation.
  • Be able to differentiate the TCM patterns for constipation.
  • Be familiar with the herbal treatment for each pattern differentiation for constipation.
