COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Did you know that roughly 60% of men and 50% of women experience at least one trauma in their lives? Research has shown that 7 out of every 100 people will develop PTSD at some point in their lives.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, develops in some people who have seen or lived through a shocking or scary event that either is, or is perceived to be, life-threatening. Not everyone that has experienced a trauma will develop PTSD. Symptoms generally develop 4-6 weeks (less than 3 months) after the traumatic event, but sometimes they are not evident until years after.
This course expands on information in the first PTSD course, Treating PTSD with Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is highly recommended. In this course, Dr. Melissa Monroe, a seasoned acupuncturist with clinical PTSD experience, covers new PTSD research, physiology of PTSD, new acupuncture protocols, herbal medicine, and look at indicators of Post Traumatic Growth (PTG). Resilience is bouncing back after a trauma. PTG is bouncing higher than ever before. We'll look at what might make it possible for some folks to experience PTG, and how we, as acupuncturists, can support that growth.
