The use of Chinese herbal medicine to treat pets has been steadily increasing for the past decade and parallels their use in the human medical field. There is a trend in human medicine toward the use of alternative therapies that produce fewer side effects, provide good results and are more affordable than pharmaceutical drugs. As the public continues to use Chinese herbs with beneficial results, the more they seek this same medical treatment for their companion animals. In this course, practitioners will learn how to work with Veterinarians to provide safe and effective herbal treatments for common veterinary disorders. This course is intended as an introduction to classical and modified classical Chinese herbal formulas that have been safely and effectively used for over 10 years in dogs and cats to treat common veterinary disorders.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Understand how to make a Chinese veterinary diagnosis
  • Learn what common veterinary disorders can be treated with Chinese herbs
  • Recognize the basic TCVM patterns of illness associated with these disorders
  • Learn the applications of selected classical and modified classical herbal formulas to treat these disorders, singly and in combination
  • Be aware that prescribing herbal treatments must be in conjunction with a Veterinarian care
