Ricardo Con, LAc

Doctor Ricardo has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 30 years and at his private clinic, Centro de Medicina China, for 27 years in the greater Los Angeles area. He specializes in severe chronic and recalcitrant diseases that have difficulty in responding to allopathic medicine.

A great number of Ricardo’s patients are of Hispanic descent, and embrace him not as an alternative health care provider but as their main caretaker. His mission is to help his patients to the best of his ability as many do not have insurance, have limited resources, or have insurance but have not been helped by other modalities. We can see the many different cases and patients he has treated over the years on his clinic’s Facebook page listed below:

After being a Biology major in UCI, Ricardo began studying acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.. He was an apprentice of very experienced and veteran doctors, one of which was a master in pulse diagnosis and very well known in the Chinese community of Chinatown, Los Angeles.

Before opening his own practice, he worked at Cedar's Sinai Tower Acupuncture and Beverly Hills Center for Regeneration. He treated many famous patients including movie stars and other high profile patients, but he realized his passion is to help people who are truly in need. This motivated him to open his own practice in the largest Latino community of Los Angeles.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals were overwhelmed and many people were turned away despite knowing they were in critical condition. Understanding this, he opened his clinic to the hundreds of people who needed care during those crucial moments of life and death. Many who would not have survived COVID-19 without treatment got the help and support they needed from Ricardo.

Ricardo's passion for Chinese medicine led him to serve as an Acupuncture Board Examiner for several years in the past. He has also appeared in very well known Hispanic television shows on the Univision and Telemundo networks as a special guest to introduce and broaden the perspectives of others about Traditional Chinese Medicine. Through these platforms, he was able to demonstrate and discuss acupuncture treatments, Chinese herbal medicine and cupping. He has made it his life’s mission to educate the public and demystify this topic of Eastern health and medicine. He believes the first step to understanding is through connecting with others. By explaining these topics in a relevant and approachable way, people would become more interested in not only learning about herbs and techniques, but also the ancient traditions and metaphysical concepts which helped shape Traditional Chinese Medicine. His hope for the future of Chinese medicine is that it will become a household medicine and be integrated into the healthcare system.

He has also been furthering his knowledge by practicing Qigong and Daoist meditation for many years under different masters. This has helped him understand how the most fundamental principle of Qi isn't an abstract metaphysical concept, but a living force that can benefit the practitioner and his patients directly and indirectly.
