Acupuncture for a headache?

Hi,
I'm a 44-year-old woman and has been suffering from a severe headache. My head is burning out of pain all the time. I don’t know what to do with it. I also had insomnia. I wonder whether it is because of stress or sleeplessness. My husband said that acupuncture will help for a headache due to stress. So I'm thinking about getting an acupuncture treatment from Pinewood Natural Health care in Toronto. Is it expensive? Does it really work? Can anyone share your acupuncture experience for a headache?

Hi, Acupuncture is not only effective for migraine headaches, but also works very well with tension headaches, cluster headaches, post-traumatic headaches, and disease-related headaches that might be due to sinus problems, high blood pressure or sleeping disorders. The greatest advantage of acupuncture over Western medicine is that it does virtually no harm. Some medications can have serious side effects and can (in some instances) actually lead to patients experiencing a "rebound" headache. Unlike synthetic drugs, acupuncture has virtually no side effects, and the procedures for treating headaches are much less invasive with acupuncture than with surgery.

Hi, Acupuncture definitely treats all sorts of headaches with ample success rate, however, you must know that there are many causes and distinct origins for a headache...Stress is one very common cause for tension headache type...as Stress causes muscles around the neck, upper back and scull to tighten and limit blood circulation with all its consequences...creating at times chronic "trigger points" and such. From what you describe (burning sensation) I'd think that you may have a nerve compromised by muscle(s) contraction at your cervical column... I'd suggest you see an acupuncturist who also is familiar with either "trigger Point" therapy a/o OPM (Origin Point Medicine)therapy, and definitely the Tan's Balance system...Good Luck...:)
