COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Community acupuncture refers to a specific approach of providing TCM therapies in a shared space, which enables the practitioner to treat more than one client at a time and the provision of treatments based on a sliding-scale fee per session.
Part I of Acupuncture Fundamentals in a Community Setting explores the benefits of community acupuncture (CA) for patients, practitioners, and communities. The course will begin with an exploration of the benefits of acupuncture in a community setting and how it addresses gaps in healthcare access for underserved individuals and communities. Common misconceptions about CA will be addressed, as well as key principles and the realities of what makes for a successful and fulfilling healing experience for patients. The participants will be encouraged to create a treatment protocols based on their individual strengths and values. Workflow, physical space, and policies will also be addressed. In addition, laws and ethics guiding the development of community acupuncture and health facility standards, as well as safety and privacy concerns in a community acupuncture setting, will be addressed. Participants will leave with an understanding of the core aspects of acupuncture in a community acupuncture context.
