COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The book "Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction" by Travell and Simon contains over 120 Trigger Points. Regardless, patients present with specific common Trigger Points based on existing cultural and behavioral trends 90% of the time. The commonalities of all Trigger Points (pathophysiology, aetiology, and predisposing/perpetuating factors) will be explored in this course, followed by an analysis of the 12 most common trigger points that patients present with, as well as their diagnosis and treatment with acupuncture. Effective acupuncture treatments for each typical Trigger Point pattern will be presented, as well as a review of myofascial pain syndromes and how to interpret them from both a Western and Chinese medical perspective.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

  • Understand basic pathophysiology, aetiology and predisposing/perpetuating factors of all trigger points
  • Understand the diagnosis and treatment of 12 common trigger points
  • Learn clinically effective diagnostic and treatment protocols for 12 common trigger points utilizing acupuncture
