Immunology and Chinese Herbal Medicine
Recent studies in immunology have shown various aspects of immune modulation through the regulation of yin and yang in the body, and through the administration of certain herbal medicines. Attend this course with Dr. Matt Van Benschoten to understand immune function and the practical applications of Chinese herbal medicine in immune regulation.
Dr. Van Benschoten, with over 30 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience, whose practice specializes in immune dysfunctions, reviews the structure and function of the immune system in relation to common diseases and Chinese herbal pharmacology. Cellular and humoral immunity, antibody production, and types of defensive cells are discussed in depth with specific materia medica that regulate their functions. Case studies that demonstrate the integration of classical TCM herbal formulations with modern laboratory research are also discussed in detail.
Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:
- Have a deeper understanding of the structure and function of the immune system.
- Understand in depth cellular and humoral immunity, antibody production, T cells and B cells, natural killer cells, macrophages, and cytotoxic T cells.
