Infertility refers to the biological inability of a person to conceive. The treatments for infertility are as varied and dynamic as its causes. In this class, Dr. Marc Kalan, M.D. will discuss some of the most common types of fertility treatment with special emphasis on assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Infertility treatment procedures covered in this class include: IUI (intrauterine insemination), IVF (in-vitro fertilization), GIFT (gamete intrafallopian transfer) and ZIFT (zygote intrafallopian transfer), ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection), and PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis).
