David Wells, D.C., L.Ac.
Dr. David Wells has been a tireless advocate of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, serving as President of the California Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, President of the Council of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Associations, founder and President of the Center for Oriental Medical Research and Education and Bylaws Chair of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He helped pass legislation to retain acupuncturists as providers in Workers' Compensation and MediCal, and to allow acupuncture professional associations to perform peer review. He was also one of the presenters to the FDA/NIH to legalize the acupuncture needle.
In his continuing efforts to include acupuncturists in the healthcare system, he founded and was President of AcuNET, the first company to include acupuncturists in managed care. Later, as Medical Director of Landmark Healthcare, he brought inclusion of acupuncture as a covered benefit through insurance companies in 17 states. He also wrote the first insurance benefits that included herbal medicine prescribed by licensed acupuncturists. He was lead author and presenter of the acupuncture billing codes, getting them into the AMA CPT codebooks in 1997 and 2004, so that we can bill insurance companies for our services.
His private practice is focused primarily on musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. He currently treats around 120 patients per week using a combination of acupuncture, non-force chiropractic, herbs, nutrition and therapeutic exercise. He has taught acupuncture orthopedics all over the United States and in Korea.

Awesome: emphasis on setting a foundation so we are able to think through a case and administer appropriate treatment, giving us extra clinical tools (I especially love the manual therapy and exercises, and I did not learn these in school), and giving us LOTS of practical tips for patient relationships/practice building/insurance billing, etc! So well-rounded and useful!
Awesome course. So insightful. Wish I could do MORE topics of body injury areas with Dr. Wells. I can't wait to use some of the nuggets I learned tomorrow in clinic!

I love the comprehensive approach and different treatment modalities he presented. the demos were great. he was easy to understand and did not try to re-invent the wheel - i enjoyed the course and there was information that i can use everyday in my practice.
Absolutely amazing. Extremely knowledgeable, yet approachable and truly seems to be caring and kind. I am drawn to his energy as well as his style of speaking. He shared his knowledge without a pompous air of superiority, and made the audience feel as if they were contributing. (And this was all via the Webinar!) I would definitely look for his name in the future, when considering webinars.
